I'm sure that's how religious fundementalists view things whether it be Catholics, Jews, Muslims, Christians, or any group or sub-group of a religion.
"Morality" is a delusion! Moral standards change over time! Often, Righteousness looks outrageously stupid! But, then, what do the masses do? Which path to take? What to do OR no to do? I think this a wonderful topic of discussion!
Just because the explanation is justifiable does not make the action justified
Morality is used as a tool rather than an end in itself. It is used by corporations to appear concerned about social welfare, by governments in domestic and foreign policy and in places where logic fails to support your course of action.
As the stakes get bigger, decisions become more 'immoral'. It is far easier to serve one's own interest rather than gather information and listen to opposing points of view. Provided an 'actor' possesses sufficient power (as in the case of corporations, government, adults over children), it becomes a matter of convenience to make decisions that are morally unsound.
