Moore takes on CNN

Here is a clip with Michael Moore being interviewed live on CNN by Wolf Blitzer. This one's about his new Movie Sicko (if you haven't heard already). Even if you don't agree with him (you would be part of a rather minuscule minority) , you have to admire his courage to go up and ask questions the media doesn't care to ask. [ Clip from You Tube - Thanks to Nikhil]

The show reminded me of the conversation we (Me and vikram) had a few days before of :"digested journalism"... best part is, the guy acccepted its business, as if they don have any other duty as a journalist!!

Not denying Michael moore's courage.. but i just read this following piece..

"It does not seem unreasonable to think that Moore's performance with Blitzer on CNN was, at least in part, calculated to generate controversy about and rekindle interest in the lagging Sicko box office. Several times, Moore promoted his Web site where he said he would correct CNN: "I'm going to put the real facts up there on my Web site so people can see what he [Gupta] said was wrong." In fact, before the night was over, almost the entire home page of michaelmoore.com was devoted to the CNN-Moore brouhaha, with video of Moore's appearance and links to new content including screeds like "CNN vs. THE FACTS" and "Demand an apology from CNN." At 1 pm EDT on July 10, Moore's Web site was temporarily not available-possibly due to high demand whipped up by bloggers and media outlets who were inspired by Moore's extreme and ultimately self-serving antics on CNN. His schtick was like throwing red meat to his large core fan base who already think that CNN is right of center, too soft on (if not in cahoots with) the Bush-Cheney administration, and complicit in the selling of the Iraq war to the American people."

Even if all Moore wanted to do was get at CNN, I for one, support it.

I do not think the mainstream media can dispute the fact that it failed the American public when it came to reporting the facts surrounding the call to go to war.

It is the media's job to pass on the facts in as sincere a manner as possible. Everybody has a unique way of interpreting events and situations; but what the mainstream media did in this case was to turn a blind eye. They didn't exercise the amount of judgment a kid using in reading the back of a cereal box!

And the end of it all, we don't see media persons admitting they made a mistake. Everybody goes on with life as usual. "its not my job to apologize. My job is to read or write information passed on to me!" I can do that, why do we need journalists and news corporations then?
