Possibility

All men dream, but not equally.
Those who dream by night in the dusty
recesses of their minds
Awake to find that it was vanity;
But the dreamers of the day are dangerous men,
That they may act their dreams with open
eyes to make it possible.

T.E. Lawrence

are you saying that i need to sleep during the day to realize my fantasies..
i mean u know, imagine if ppl who had "nightmares" where in they go about killing everybody..actually had daymares..none will be spared, not even our little brothers who will be mercilessly beheaded and as for us, we will be left hanging...
fuck that dude lawrence man!, he is messing with our heads (both of em)

Is this the reason why, professors and teachers dont want their students to day-dream in their classes, but pay attention to what is being taught.

Also, didnt quite get what T.E.L. meant between the lines, when he said "All men dream, but not equally". Equally would typically mean quantification of dreams -> dreams in turn are stereotypically considered to be representative of aspirations and aims. Would he have meant that all men aspire to different peaks/levels.

Secondly, why does he consider day-dreamers dangerous, if what they dream of are positive/world-friendly/ human-friendly. Are we to be afraid of a great positive change.

when he means "dreamers of the day" he doesn't mean people who sleep during the day but those who carry a dream in their heads with their eyes open.

When he says all men don't dream equally, he compares those who dream at night to the other kind. Those who dream at night, get up in the morning and dismiss all their dreams as being in vain and continue to go about their daily lives.

Those who dream as they live their daily lives are not asleep. The dream they create is through volition and they just might take steps to make it happen.

They are dangerous because they then become unpredictable. They can leave everything behind for that dream; the misery that could cause is almost as great as the happiness accompanying the fulfilment of the dream.

case in point: Indy's dream. Without going into the details, let me just say it has a lot of violence directed towards the male of the species. While its fulfilment would definitely make her one happy soul, i am sure no man would wish such a fate on his worst enemy!

author's note:

Having recieved a justifiably acrimonious reprimand from ms.Indy, the author apologizes for taking undue creative license regarding the nature of her dreams.

Her claim that her dreams do not, in any way, target the male of the species in any negative way is acknowledged.

A fishing eagle circles overhead,
the sun scorching bright.

avidly you scurry up the rockface,
trussed in a harness,
trusted rope by your side.
At the edge of the precipice,
turning to face your back,
you let go.

A fishing eagle circles overhead,
the sun scorching,
your face so bright.
