Victor E Frankl

We who lived in concentration camps can remember the men who walked through the huts comforting others, giving away their last piece of bread. They may have been few in number, but they offer sufficient proof that everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms -- to choose one's attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one's own way.

---------------
Choosing one's own way; attitude; perspective; freeing your mind; i find them in almost every book i read. Amit was talking about a Deepak Chopra book that he was reading that meandered around the concept - but he wasn't impressed. I guess Frankl's book should be a better read (check out the link under 'people') - eventhough i have yet to read his work i am impressed by his resilience - for a man to spend 3 years in a concentration camp, loose his wife and still go on.

Got the book and read it at a 1 shot. I have to admit that the book has managed to get me thinking. The advice may not permeate through into my day-2-day outlook. But I would put it in my All-time "Read Once atleast" list.

That was quick. How big was it, 20 pages?

what is the main theme?

The book is not that long. Its about 170 odd pages. But the size of pages is really small (think size of 3-4 cellphones placed side by side).

Some of the key concepts introduced by him deal with:

Should you expect from life or does life expect something from you.

What are the ways in which one can understand meaning of anything (object / action)
